Doppler Radar

Doppler Radar Systems

Doppler radar uses the Doppler effect to measure the velocity of objects at a distance. In maritime applications, Doppler radar is used for vessel speed measurement relative to the ground or water, as well as for weather and precipitation detection. Unlike conventional radar that only detects the presence and range of targets, Doppler radar measures the rate of change in distance, providing speed and direction data that is critical for navigation, docking assistance, and situational awareness in restricted waters.

Rice Electronics supplies, installs, and maintains Doppler radar systems suited for commercial vessels, offshore platforms, and port operations. Our technicians are factory-trained and capable of integrating Doppler radar with bridge navigation systems and ECDIS displays.
