Certifications
The societies issue External Specialist Certificates for approved vendors such as Rice Electronics. One of the certificates below is for VDR (Vessel Data Recorder) which is the same as the black box you hear about recovering from an airplane crash except for ships. The VDR must be inspected each year.
The other certificate is for Radio Technician. This one allows us to perform the annual GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress Safety System) inspections for ocean going ships.
